@alana_sunshine, pretty sure she meant her water? no doctor will let the baby stay in for more than 24 hours after your water breaks. @ciarahaleyyyy if you meant your water, its different for everyone. after mine broke it only took an hour. but it could take up to 24, at which point the drs will find an alternative method to getting baby out. if you're talking about having a membrane sweep, then yes it could be anywhere from a few hours to a few days and it doesn't always work
