so I just checked my credit score and it's....not good 😕 but I didn't see my previous eviction on there, does that mean it hasn't been reported yet and that when I go to apply for an apartment they won't be able to see it? Also, has anyone gotten approved for a place with low credit?

It actually is medical bills and my student loans. The med bills are from when I didn't have insurance like two years ago. I had no idea they went to collections. My boyfriend however has unpaid utilities that he totally forgot about from his first house when he was like 18-19. @emily18234 thank you for all your help though I appreciate it so much

more than likely. it depends on the place, what is negative on your report, (medical bills they may be more lenient on rather than unpaid utilities), income, stuff like that. best of luck. I'm here if you have any more questions

Yeah we've gone to every court date. Next one is put out until September. At our last court date they tried to discredit that we ever paid for repairs and that was bullshit, we had receipts. I'm glad it's not showing up on my credit though, it will make it so much easier to get a place. But my credit score is shit so I'm sure we will have to pay more of a deposit or something.

it hasn't because the judgement hasn't been entered. so you'll be good. but show up to court!!!! if the landlord refused to pay to repair, you can legally use what you paid in repairs towards the rent

@mommybump2016 yeah I know but it hasn't showed up on my credit score yet apparently. Maybe because we're still fighting it. But they won't have a way of knowing if we don't tell them. If they ask I'm obviously gonna tell them I don't wanna lie but it hasn't been reported yet it looks like

most likely they will just ask for a bigger security deposit. but some places won't even take you if you have been evicted.

@emily18234 if the credit scores are an issue though would getting a co signer be the way to go?

@emily18234 but anyways my boyfriend just started a new job and is going to be making enough money to allow me to stay home with the baby so we do have the income, but I didn't realize how bad BOTH our credit scores are. His is bad because he had to take out two credit cards to pay for the freaking repairs on that house. Mine is from defaulted student loans that I've been unable to keep paying on as I had to quit my job in the beginning of my pregnancy due to being put on bed rest. I'm so stressed out.

@emily18234 well we had lived in this house for about a year and we had just had to renew the lease because we didn't have time or money to move, but then shortly after we began having all these crazy problems with the house that the landlords would NOT fix. Stuff with the plumbing and we found out that there was a carbon monoxide leak. We told them all this and they just ignored us for 3 months straight so we had to pay out of pocket for all these expenses. Not long after that we decided we had to move, we couldn't deal with having a carbon monoxide leak that would cost us over $1k to fix and the pluming issue was with a ton of the pipes and that would have been a lot of money to keep fixing as well. So we finally emailed the landlord and told them look, we need to move out we have gotten behind on rent from having to pay for all of these maintenance issues and we can't afford to keep putting money into a house that we don't even own. we told them we would like to figure out a way to come to an agreement on the rest of the lease for payments and how to get our money reimbursed from them after having to pay out of our own pockets for repairs on the house. Not two weeks after we sent that email they sent us an eviction notice suing us for the rest of the rent for the remaining year we were supposed to be there since we had just renewed the lease. So I'm thinking they did that so they could sue us first so they wouldn't have to reimburse us the $2000+ we had spent on repairs that should have been their responsibility. We are still currently fighting it, our next court date isn't til after the baby comes though. Do you think if we explain that to our possible new landlord they will work with us??

I haven't had an eviction but I didn't have a good or substantial rental history (places were always in my husband's name and we always moved early because of military orders or moving in general) and as for my credit, I have a repossession from the last 2 years. I was approved for my apartment with 2 additional security deposits. 1 for credit and 1 for rental history. It was $250 each.

the only issue is they can get ahold of your old landlord somehow that's how they got me

if you have the income, you may not have a problem. also, they may ask if you have any previous evictions and if you're honest and upfront and depending on what it was for, they may be willing to work with you. finally, it depends on how they evicted you. if it was a judgement against you in court, they'd easily be able to find it and probably check court records. do you mind giving me a little more information about when the past eviction was and what it was for
