I have a big question, I don't know if anyone can answer it! But if so please do! 😊

I have a big question, I don't know if anyone can answer it! But if so please do! 😊

I was told yesterday that I have upper normal amniotic fluid levels, I'm 22+6, baby boy is measuring 23+4 & thanks to the extra fluid my uterus is measuring 26 weeks. My doctor said he's not concerned but wants to keep an eye on it, so now I have my appointments every 2 weeks with ultrasound to measure the fluid.

I know they say if you have a low amount of fluid to drink lots of water, so that makes me wonder if there's something I can do to lessen the production of fluid? Am I drinking to much water? I also heard sugar could effect this, should I cut out sugars for the next 2 weeks & see what happens? I'm hesitant about trying to lessen it because with all my previous pregnancies I've always measured 2-3week ahead, but never was I told I had a fluid problem or that my doctor was concerned. Which makes me wonder if this doctors office isn't just trying to milk my insurance, everyone else I've talked to has been a 4-8 weeks ahead with this problem. I'm confused! My doctor and the nurses tell me to not worry just think of it as extra pictures of the baby, in reality I wonder if that's just exactly what it is. 😳

Did your doctor tell you how much fluid you had?

An excess of fluid is a symptom of gestational diabetes. So they really do have to keep an eye on baby.

I also don't think there's anything you can do differently, it's one of those things your doctor has to treat but if it's only slightly high it'll go away on it's own

Nope, he just said its still in the normal range, but upper normal. He expressed he's not worried & when I call and ask the whys? For better understanding they tell me nothing. The nurse yesterday couldn't tell me the risks. She said, "we can't say what could happen if it gets to high, just think of it as extra pictures." Like really? This just don't make sense. & the tech didn't mention it to me. She actually said "your perfect for a 3D you have the right amount of fluid for clear photos!" She expressed no concern, then bam! 😳 @raegenice

@soontobemomof4, wow, is there a way you could get a second opinion? Because some doctors really don't know what they're talking about. If it's not too high, don't be concerned. But extremely high amniotic fluid is called polyhydramnios. That's not what you have if he isn't worried.

@jana.bear, okay thank you. I'm fine with the extra ultrasounds & them keeping close eye on him. I just didn't understand why. I'm freaking out wondering why their taking these steps, thinking their hiding something Terrible from me. I don't get why they couldn't tell me straight up about gestational diabetes. But again thank you.

I wouldn't worry about it. Doctors and Nurses gave me the run around a within the last month and I swear I question is it because I have good insurance. Especially when it just doesn't make sense. If it were me I would do some research. If u find in doing so it says to cut back on sugar I would. I'm sure everything will be just fine.

@soontobemomof4, I only know because my doctor used a growth spurt to get me another ultrasound and they were checking for extra fluid. I only passed my second glucose by 2 points so GD was still a possibility. And that's what my tech told me. I'm shocked theure doing so many ultrasounds if there's no concerns.

@jana.bear, exactly! I feel like their either not telling me the whole story or they are milking my insurance. I can't do my glucose for another month. Which I know there's an early one they can do, idk why didn't they have me do that.

I've found that simply refusing services gets me an explanation pretty quickly. My doctor will flat out say "let's use this as an excuse to get you some 3rd trimester pictures from your insurance." to which I respond "heck yeah free 3d 4d." But every 2 weeks? and you're only halfway through the second tri? Seems like more then just an excuse to get pictures. Ask the doctor to refer you to a collegue of his for a second opinion.

When I go back on the 8th I'm gonna ask him a ton of questions to try and get to the bottom of this, since his nurses seem to be blowing me off. The office I go to actually has a total of 4-6 obgyns who work there. Every time you make an appointment they ask you what doctor you want it with. If he is still shooting shit with me I will just set up an appointment with one of the doctors and see what they say. @jana.bear
