So when I gave birth I took my baby && had him latch on my boob, he did for a few seconds but then he started to cry. My mother in law kept insisting for me to give him the bottle I said no! She took the hospitals formula && gave it to him right away. Ever since he hasn't been able to latch on 😭 I want to breastfeed its been my dream && goal, && now it feels like it will never happen! Is there anything I can put on my boob so he can latch on faster? Honestly I don't want him getting sick when he gets older! I've experienced through it my whole life && it sucks && I definitely don't want my baby having the same problem!

I suggest a nipple shield as well and also always offer breast first. .... shame on your mil for doing that, she should have respected your wishes

I can't believe she did that! I would be so upset, it's not up to her. Anyway, it took a while for my son to get it, so just don't give up! See if the hospital or your pediatrician has a lactation consultant who can help you. My pediatrician had one and she helped me finally get it :)

the baby's doctor told me to put the baby mouth on my boob then squirt the formula on my boob so it falls in his mouth, && once he starts to latch to start breastfeeding him . @amilo561

I would have also made her leave, altho I'm sure that would have caused issues... but like @amilo561 said find a lactation consultant (mine is is my wic office which is super convenient lol she also gave me her office and cell phone number) mine has been a lifesaver this time.... I wish I had found her last time
