Question for you ladies..... My boyfriend has really protective older sisters, and sometimes really controlling older sisters... I haven't seen him since Monday & I've been looking forward to seeing him tonight.. Well he's over at his parents and he just texted me saying that all of his siblings are over so he probably won't be able to see me tonight considering its already past 9PM... He told his sisters that i'd be upset if he didn't come over (especially because he's been saying he'll be over soon for the last couple of hours) & she said "well we're having sibling bonding time"..... I've been telling my boyfriend that I want to spend more time with him in the next few weeks because our son could literally come at any time & I think it's really important for us to have some "us" time before he gets here.... Am I wrong for being a little upset at this? "Sibling time" will honestly always be the same for them, but time between us will never be the same... I just really hate missing out on any opportunity to see him with us being so close to our due date 😔 We haven't had much time alone together in a while, but I'm going to be the bad guy with his sisters if I say that & get upset about it...

You're the mother of his child. He should be making you a priority. That doesn't mean disrespecting your family, but if you're having a baby with someone I feel like the rule of thumb is that you should definitely be a priority and his family should respect that.

Like wtf are his sisters going to do if y'all get married? Expect him to leave you and the baby for "sibling time"?

@therockamom, that's what I think too, but his sister thinks that he's whipped or that I'm the reason why she doesn't see him very often.... I mean we've been together for three years, I'm 9 months pregnant with our son, and I barely get to see him during the week... She always give him the guilt trip about how he "always" sees me (when that actually isn't even true) & never sees her (she lives in a different city & he's always busy working or going to school)... He usually never gives in to the guilt trip, but she can make him feel like the biggest POS brother for not spending time with them.. It's so irritating because I know he wants to see me tonight, but he doesn't want his family getting upset with him either. 🙁😒

@therockamom, Exactly.... their sibling time isn't going to change, but our relationship will... But they don't see that, apparently!

That's mental abuse. No joke. That's so messed up. When you get older and you get into a serious relationship, that's what's supposed to happen. You leave your family, and cleave to your SO. Now like I said, that doesn't mean you disrespect your family and cut them out, but you create a life with your SO. His sister seems to have a problem. She seems controlling, and him letting it happen is only going to make it worse. And it probably won't stop unless he stands up for himself.

@therockamom, That's what I think too.. I really do love her to death, but I hate it when she does this. She always accuses me of being the reason why he doesn't do many family things anymore, when the reason why is because his family never pays any attention to him! He's the one that's always blamed for everything & always gets the short end of the stick, so he just said "screw it" & decided not to do much with the family as a whole anymore... But it's always blamed on me! He went to his parents to mow the lawn & all of his siblings were there so he got roped into staying. I'm so frustrated. She's 12ish years older and he's the baby of the family so she is VERY protective, but it's so ridiculous that this happens. I'm due in two and a half freakin weeks for goodness sake - he SHOULD be with me! 😡

Yes he should. They need to stop looking at him like a baby. That's so unhealthy. And it's only going to strain your relationship. My husband had to take a huge step back from his parents because of a very similar situation and they constantly blame me, but I don't care because it's made our relationship better. We aren't fighting because of them.

@therockamom, Oh yeah, I totally agree. Luckily he realizes it, he just doesn't want to be the bad guy and hurt anyone's feelings - mine or theirs. It's just really crappy right now being so pregnant and he doesn't want to stand up to them.. Ugh. I really appreciate you lending a listening ear!! Thank you so much

No problem! I hope things start to get better and his family realizes that he is starting a family of his own. If you ever need someone to talk to, you can always message me 😊.

😒 sounds like he and his sisters have weird boundaries. Family time is important... Sure... But come on.

@aimnbuster, Agreed. She's trying to be super controlling of her baby brother but needs to realize that the family he created should now trump their "sibling time".... Especially being that I'm due in two and a half weeks, you know? You'd think she'd be like "oh yeah, you should probably go over and be with your pregnant girlfriend" as opposed to having him tell me that he can't come see me because they're bonding..... Wtf
