Help!
I have a neighbor who is pregnant and I don't know how far along she is but I'm thinking she's barely starting out. We've never really had a full on conversation with her besides "Hello" but last night she came to my apartment and asked if she could use the phone really quick. Her boyfriend is really rude and SO disrespectful to her. They fight constantly and I'll always hear him screaming at her and just saying really mean things to her. Well last night while she was using the phone, I could hear that he's all "Where the fuck are you calling me from?!" and that was it. I don't know if she didn't have her key or what cos she was waiting for him outside. But my dad asked her when she was walking away if she was sure she was okay cos she didn't look like she was doing well. We offered her food and water and even invited her in to rest while she waited for her boyfriend. She refused and said she was just tired and couldn't eat cos of morning sickness.
I saw it in my dad that he felt so bad for her because he imagined me being in her shoes. Like, he just couldn't stand the thought of me being treated that way and especially if I'm pregnant.
I would like to help her... be able to talk to her and tell her that if she ever needs anything, to not hesitate to ask us. Would it be a bad idea to "butt in"?

That's a tricky situation to be in. If you see her alone without her bf around you can tell her your name and say you might have some baby stuff for her (or something like that) to kind of break the ice a bit. I thought you could write her a note saying you'd be there to listen and vent to but then I worry the bf would see it. I guess if you see her be nice and maybe if she needs your help she'll come asking for it??

Sometimes it's best to not say anything. When she's ready she'll seek the help she needs and I'm sure she'll always remember you guys being so nice.

I'd start out trying to be her friend, bond over pregnancy and work towards her being confident enough to talk with you. ask her to go for a walk or come over to watch a movie , little things like that. @optimusviolet

I think the only reason she asked to use our phone, out of everyone else, was because my mom saw her sitting outside once and she introduced herself to her. Maybe she saw that we're nice people. But If I see her by herself, I'll try to make small talk with her @kimberlyyyy @joblack @nichole_lynn
