That more depends on your personal preference. They're both equally as damaging, as far as hair goes, but ammonia-free tends to fade more easily. Dyes containing ammonia won't affect baby any more than ammonia-free, though.

Just keep it off your scalp and dye in a well ventilated room and it's totally fine. 😊

I was told it's fine to do when you have reached your second trimester :)
