After losing my baby a couple weeks ago I decided to do some research. This is my 4th second trimester miscarriage and nobody ever had an explanation for why I keep losing my babies! My uterus is fine (aside from my fibroids which the dr said isn't causing the miscarriages) and my cervix is fine. I found out women who have untreated thyroid disease are super high risk for first and second trimester miscarriages. When I was a kid I was told I had hypothyroidism and was on meds until I was 15. I was told that there wasn't anything wrong with my thyroid and I didn't have to continue the medicine. At 17 I had my first miscarriage. I haven't taken any meds for hypothyroidism since the age of 15. I have a dr appointment Monday to get my thyroid checked. Has anyone been thru this before?? I'm really hoping I get diagnosed with hypothyroidism and get medicated so that I can try to conceive again.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't relate to your exact situation but here's my story. I started going to a new primary doc a bit over a year ago, and of course at my first appointment they did all sorts of blood work, tests, etc. when I was informed of the results my heart sunk; she told me I had hypothyroidism. Not only that but she said even with treatment I probably wouldn't conceive without IVF intervention. so that really broke my heart. Anyways, so my boyfriend and I stopped using protection. About 2 months later I got a positive pregnancy test. At my first appointment with the OB they of course drew blood and at my next appointment to discuss the results she told me that I wasn't hypothyroid. I was so confused. She told me my levels were pretty much perfect and that she had no idea where my physician would get the idea that I'm hypothyroid. So I worried so long before getting that blood work back because she told me I'd have to see a genetic counselor to discuss possible complications due to the thyroid issue and it was just so stressful. I was on synthroid before I found out I didn't have the issue and thankfully taking that wouldn't hurt the baby so they just took me off of it. I hope everything turns out perfectly for you darling, just thought I'd share my roller coaster of a thyroid story lol
