they have one strap to monitor you for contractions and then another one to catch him moving and the heartbeat and make sure  it peaks everytime she moves.

It's where your on kinda like a contraction belt but it sees if the baby is any kind of stress that may cause him. come early just basically checking to make sure the baby's not stressed
