honestly don't know they don't do it for all moms just to the ones the think will go over there due date or the one's with medical problems I had one done with my little girl because she passed away inside me so they had to try that before me having her @firsttimemommy014

It's basically where your Dr goes in and trys to loosen your baby's sac from your cervix..... its to help labor come so u won't go over your due date
