Newborn babies can not lift their necks. So when layed on their stomach, if they turn their face into the bed, blankets or pillows they can suffocate. Yeah, to each is own is right.. that's why I sure didn't lay my babies on their belly. If a baby is tired enough they will sleep. They didn't sleep on their belly in the womb.. Sooo that "some babies can't sleep any other way " is a joke. And "I watch them, I'm not a heavy sleeper." You won't HEAR a baby take their last breath. If there's a chance, EVEN a 1% chance something can happen to them by laying them down to sleep this way, why chance it? !!

There will always be something new. Before women were told not to lay babies on their backs because they could choke and then they were told back is best. No one knows what causes SIDS. My nephew died in my sister in law's arms suddenly and there was nothing she could do so forgive me it truly is a matter of to teach their own if a child is going to die from SIDS thereu is nothing to prevent it, the cause is unknown and no amount of cpr or medical prevention will help.

@suprise4, they do have training for that. My dad had to do it before he took me home from the hospital. But she was simply talking about how to lay a baby.

somtimes baby will roll i remember one time my son rolled over in his sleep then spat up on himself and i heard him trying to gasp for breathe and woke up and ran to him good thing i am a light sleeper i might not of heard him trying to gasp for his breathe i was freaking scared .... moral of the story you can lay baby the right or recommend way but they might roll
