Does anyone know of any good thrift stores or inexpensive furniture stores in the Atlanta/Metro…

just Google thrift stores in atlanta, I did it and it pulled up a bunch and you can call them before you go to see if they have what you are looking for.... it does pull up goodwill but just ignore those.... I'm with you, I don't support goodwill, I used to go there for their big sale but not anymore after I read up on it

lol I was going to say Goodwill. what's wrong with them? there's other thrift stores. maybe even a once upon a child, which is basically a Plato's closet but for only children's clothing and other things that baby's use. There's an app called Offer up, and there's a lot of good stuff that's sold on there and its for in your location.

Just asking, what's wrong with Goodwill?

@kelseys, the money they make doesn't go to charities like they saybit does (i have read like 1 cent for every dollar thwy make goes and i have read nothing goes), their ceo makes an obscene amount of money each year, the workers make next to nothing

they took donations them mark up their prices almost as high as brand new items, that's wrong to me and defeats the purpose of a thirft shop. I love kid to kid and once upon a child, I go regularly, but they don't have what I'm looking for. I have offer up and let go on my phone I check everyday but again, nothing I'm looking for on there. I know there are a bunch a thift store but I was making the post to see if anyone personally knew of any with nice furniture @kelseys

there's kind of a reason for the pricing that way.... if the store doesn't get donations a lot or not a lot of customers then they have to mark high prices because the store needs to make their money goals.. but I worked at one, in the burbs, we had a lot of donations and so everything was always dirt cheap and great condition but that's because we made more than we had to. but then the one in the city over here doesn't get anything and their prices are horrible especially for the quality of some of their things. so I see where your coming from. maybe look up garage sales in your area because I know here they sometimes do neighborhood garage sales..

oooh yeah good idea I totally forgot about garage sales. how would I look that up online tho? don't they just post signs in the yard? lol @kelseys

there is another one besides this, but it shows who is good to donate to and who isn't.... this one just shows who isn't good to donate to or support

to me it's more than the marking prices up, I know they have to to make money, but the fact that nothing goes to charity like they claim is what gets me.... the ceo makes a ton of money off stuff he didn't pay for...

exactly salvation army is a good one I remember that.... also local thrift stores are good, we have one here that is run completely by volunteers and is not for profit, we go there often

Craigslist . I found a glider chair for 25 dollars. Cleaned the wood and replaced the cushions with new ones.

I'll try looking there also. I just get so paranoid with meeting up with people sometimes from all the crazy stories I hear @ljmommy
