baby girl is finally asleep so can write my Labour story!

went into hospital on the 14th after countless times for reduced movements until they finally accepted something was wrong and kept me in to start inducing me. so 1pm on the 15th they started! after a couple hours I was in agony, but after an internal after the first six hours it showed there had been no progress, they waiting another six hours to put in the second pessary though as they said I was in too much pain and didn't want to put my body through too much. six hours after the second pessary, another internal showed no progress! so they put in the gel that morning. the gel caused so much pain!

I was then told throughout the day that I was finally dilated enough to have my waters broken they just had to wait until there was room on the Labour ward! I waiting until 4am for another midwife to come in and tell me I wasn't as dilated as I was being told and that I would have to talk to the consultant in the morning for a review :/

the consultant came and basically told me that the three options were to 're examine to see if they could break my waters, to start the second round of induction or to have an elective c section but there was no space for a csection until the following week! I asked to be 're examined, he told me I was more than enough dilated to have my waters broken and that no one should have told me different! but we still had to wait for room in Labour ward, so he put another pessary in to help things out. that was as 3:50pm, at 11:30 pm Thursday night my waters broke on there own!

I'd taken two paracetamol at 6pm and definitely needed something more! they said I wasn't yet in active Labour so there wasn't much they could give me but they suggested I had a bath. when they said I could have gas and air I was quite happy, but apparently I over did it and I passed out meaning I needed oxygen! they then told me I couldn't have any more gas and air and I couldn't have the pethidine injection as it was cause the same reaction.

so I bathed, then slept. throughout the night I had about 5 baths and slept in between them, pretty sure I slept more in Labour than I did during the induction!

eventually I asked my OH to get the midwife as I needed some pain relief badly, she came in to examine me to see if I could have an epidural, she said I had got to 7cm so I could have one, two minutes later I was in the gown, being prepped, but then I needed to push so I told them I needed to and they 're examined me and I had jumped to 10cm!

then it all got scary, I was in so much pain that I couldn't stay still for the tracing so they had to put wires on bubbas head to measure her heart, she'd gone tachycardic and had decels it was all quite bad, they also learned she was face up! so had to have ventouse (sp?) delivery. She was so distressed they had to cut me to get her out and they found out she was completely wrapped in her cord, from neck to legs.

I lost far too much blood to the extent that I developed tachycardia and needed a transfusion and I'm now on iron tablets. we also found out that the placenta had started to fail and that's why the reduced movements! the consultant said they should have done something sooner!

so after 58 hours of induction and only 6 hours 47 mins of Labour my beautiful baby girl was born on the 18th March , don't think I have ever loved anyone or anything as much as I love her!

so ladies trust your instincts! I had to be forced to phone hospital countless times as I didn't want to seem silly or bother the staff, but I know that next time I won't be embarrassed to call, as a mum you know when somethings wrong, never ever be made to believe you don't know what's best! trust yourself and don't take no for an answer! I dread to think what would of happened if I'd let the staff put me off what I knew.
