To any/all pregnant mama's to be that are getting anatomy scans, blood testing to check for abnormalities, etc... I want to share a what happened to a friend of mine..... When she was about half way through her pregnancy, she got all the standard testing done... The doctors ended up telling her that her son had severe abnormalities and a rare brain disorder and told her that he'd never walk, talk, be able to control his bladder/bowels, among a long list of other things... They even went as far to say that he could possibly pass away immediately after birth... They gave her the option to terminate her pregnancy and she was devastated..... She came to me and in tears, asked what I thought she should do, and I told her to leave it in God's hands and that, even if all she got was a few moments with him, at least she'd get the opportunity to hold her son....
Well, delivery day came and they continue telling her (as she's pushing) to be "prepared" for the probability of them being correct.... Then he came, AND HE WAS PERFECT... NOTHING THEY HAD TOLD HER WAS "WRONG WITH HER BABY" WAS IN REALITY "WRONG"... He needed to wear braces on his legs for about a year while learning to walk, but, HE'S A NORMAL 7 YEAR OLD..... My whole reason for sharing this story is simply this... Doctors make mistakes! It's important to stay informed about your health and well-being of your baby, but, always follow your instincts and never let a doctor bully you into anything!

The same thing happened to my mom about my brother but he's perfectly normal expect his attitude lol so o totally agree with you

My ex's mom had numerous doctors telling her to abort. They said that either she, the baby, but most likely both would die. She refused to abort. He is now a completely normal and healthy 28 year old! Graduated from both high school and college. The only thing wrong with him is he is extremely flat footed (his feet are almost a square shape instead of rectangle) and it causes him to walk slightly funny.

I didn't do any of the tests because to me personally, if my children were meant to have anything "wrong" with them then that's what god wanted. Wouldn't have changed my love for either of them if they had anything "wrong"

And, these minor things aren't a "big deal" when you think about the possibility that these people wouldn't even be alive if their mothers would've listened to their doctors.

@kerragannicole, and that's completely your choice. I understand that completely. But, at the same time, I'd want to be able to prepare myself so I wasn't caught completely off guard. but, it wouldn't change my love for him.

im getting the tests done but ONLY to be prepared if anything is wrong but we will no matter what love our baby

I also refused to do all of he tests, only because I know doctors can be wrong and if something is abnormal then okay no matter what I'll love my baby regardless and care for her.

Oh wow what a miracle of a story. I personally opted out of all the tests like @jnanzer94 said, pretty much for the same reasons. I wasn't going to terminate even if they claimed they had discovered something and my doctor told me the accuracy of the tests was only 70%. That percentage was not good enough for me. The amount of false positives that happen is overwhelming. My decision probably would have been different if my boyfriend or myself had any history of disorders in our families but there's nothing there.
