Mommas who've had their baby's already....how much help do you really need during the first few weeks of the baby's life? Assuming everything goes according to plan and I deliver vaginally with no problem. My mom wants to come down and stay with me and my boyfriend for the first week but she's super annoying and we don't get along well at all. Wondering if my boyfriend and I can manage on our own or if I should have the extra set of hands. She's such a pest and I just feel like she'll be getting on my nerves more than actually relieving me of stress.

@ayyeblackberry__, haven't had mine yet but I've been around many brand new babies and mommies.. You'll want the help! If she is there to help just keep her busy with laundry/dishes/food preparing! Or if you wanna switch and you do dinner one night and she be on baby duty. It'll help keep you and your boyfriend sane while trying to get the hang of stuff the first week home!

@ayyeblackberry__, and if she starts getting annoying just tell her watch the baby I need sleep! Haha

we lived with our grandparents and hubbys parents when my daughter was born. They didnt help but i actually enjoyed it. My MIL sounds like your mom shes really annoying pushy and can be very overbearing.
when we came home from the hospital I literally had to say no ones allowed to just take her if were asleep ask first (thats the kind of person she is)
You could either like the help or not. For me I like no help. this pregnancy we live on our own and i feel much more calm knowing people arent going to constantly barge in or ill be bf the baby and people just walk up.
Plus some grandparents like my mil constantly ask 'can i hold her/him'(or try to tell you do this not that, thays not how you do it....things like that. and to me thats overwhelming.

it's great to have help so you can rest. especially because the stitches when you deliver vaginally can get really sore. I really appreciated the help I had.

You definitely can do it by yourselves, many do, but it may be nice to have her help so you can even shower/sleep/eat etc

I had a C section, & I didn't have any help. My daughter is a month and a half & I haven't had anyone stay with me or anything like that. It's not hard its just tiring

honestly you don't need much help I did everything by myself the day after we got out the hospital. it's not hard just tiring and as long as you nap with baby you won't be as tired

Not sure how they all didn't need help. I've lost my mind and never been more frustrated in my life lol

I defiantly don't know what I'd do if I didn't have my moms help

you will be fine. my suggestion is never to let someone you are kot in a good relationship be involved so intimately. this time is so sureal. you will have your challenges, but you will want to absorb the time with baby. having someone who flustrates you will not make your life easier. it will make it more stressful, in turn making it more stressful for baby. if you were close with your mom and could accept her help yet be able to set clear boundaries that wont be crossed i say accept away. if not i say hell to the no. take it on and you will be happy you did it on your own anyways. blessings
