You're doing great and can make it through the tough times! I love seeing other young moms working to give their babies the best headstart they can by breastfeeding.
I would avoid them as long as possible to prevent a bottle preference. When he does get a bottle make sure you look up and do pace feeding so each ounce takes at least 5-10 minutes to eat and he only gets 1-1.25oz of breastmilk per hour that you're gone. You'll also want to pump every time he gets a bottle and every 2-3 hours you're away from him if you have to return to work.
That's definitely the 6 week growth spurt! If you can stick it out and avoid giving bottles I would highly recommend it. Things get so much easier, I promise! I almost gave up then, but now my son is 9 months and we're still going strong breastfeeding. When he's tugging on your nipples he's trying to get the milk to come out faster and increase your supply so try massaging your breast a bit to help him out.
How much formula did you give him and did you make sure you fed the bottle very slowly like you would have if you were giving a bottle of breastmilk? Also, how old is he?
@juanitalupita, he grips hard and yanks on my nipples @mirandag the formula could be hurting but he gave me a good amount of poo in his pamper(I know tmi) so idk
If he's around 3 or 6 weeks old you're likely dealing with a major growth spurt and I'd try sticking it out for a week to see if things get better again. The first 2 months are absolutely the hardest!
The formula is probably hurting his tummy and making the fussiness worse. Work with someone to improve his latch and use coconut oil or lanolin on your nipples, it will get better! I'd also have baby evaluated for a tongue or lip tie.
