My boyfriend and I still have yet to move to a new place and my baby is due in May. I'm getting really stressed out and I'm scared we won't get approved for anywhere as we have an eviction on our record. We told our last landlords we were gonna have to move because they refused to take care of very necessary maintenance issues. After we told them we were gonna have to move and we wanted to discuss how we were going to pay them for some back rent that we owed (I had pneumonia for over 2 months and was unable to work so we got behind) well about 2 weeks after we told them we were gonna have to move they sent us an eviction notice. We are still fighting it but it's still currently on our record. Anyone have experience getting a new place after an eviction? I'm really scared and I'm getting extremely depressed because of how stressed out I am about all this 😥

even though they gave you a eviction it takes time to show up on your record i moved before the eviction showed up on my credit report

Write up a professional business letter explaining what happened, why you got behind, etc. and you'll most likely have to put down 2-3 months of rent up front just for the confidence and security of the landlord. Obviously work history longevity will also work in your favor. Just don't seem desperate, because there's a lot of scam artists out there who would love to take advantage. Don't start throwing money until paperwork contracts & keys are in front of you. My situation wasn't eviction related, but I just had some credit issues and got behind on some medical bills.

@supermommyx21 is that what you had to do, put down extra money? I don't know if we can afford to do that but I was planning to offer to pay more monthly if needed depending on the price of rent at whatever place we get. I didn't even think about writing out a letter, I really like that idea.

It's not what we had to do in our case personally, but I have heard of that being a good bargaining chip. Plus so many people already ask for 1st & 2nd months rent as a standard now; it's ridiculous. 🙄 you could have perfect credit or not so perfect and they've got the same demands. I'm stressed for you now because I just remember what a crappy situation that was to be in. It's frustrating and a lot of work, but when you find that place or person that'll work with you, it'll be all the more worth it. 🙂
