Honest opinions please. My SO and I don't live together, I still have an apartment that I cannot end the lease on until July. I am pregnant, can't get on my jobs insurance until December, so I applied for Medicaid. But a lot of people are telling me to marry my SO now, to get on his insurance. But we don't live together!!! That's what bugs me. How can I be married to someone I don't live with?! Just for insurance? Does that make sense? Please give me your honest opinion, I'm really confused right now. We ARE going to get married in July, AFTER I move in, but should we do it NOW? Ugh help. 😥

no. marriage isn't something to take lightly or use as a ways of advantage ya know?

don't marry someone just for the insurance. get on government insurance.

my mom has been married for like 5 Years and doesn't live with her husband. because of her work it keeps her away. same thing with my friends mom

It's totally up to you but I absolutely wouldn't get married just for insurance purposes! You get married when it feels right and when you want to. My fiancés family really wants us to get married before the baby is here because they are embarrassed that we aren't married but I'm standing my ground and we are waiting until we are both ready and we both feel like we are in a good space to do so. Don't feel pressured to do things because other people want you to. It's your life and no one can force you into anything.

apply for medicaid it'll cover your pregnancy and the baby for up to a year I believe . I wouldn't rush to get married just for insurance

I don't know how the Medicaid works there but I live in Montana and get Montana pregnancy Medicaid and it's full Medicaid. I agree though don't rush to get married just for the insurance I don't know about you but I'd feel guilty even though the fact of already planning on being married anyway

Love do what is right for y'all not anyone else. There is nothing wrong with having Medicaid when you need it! I was supposed to get married this coming Sunday but ended up pregnant with twins. So we are waiting until after they come. We have been on a long journey we have a daughter together and each have a son from previous. Everyone tried to push us to get married ASAP. But he said no because he never wanted me or anyone else to think we got married just because I'm pregnant. And he just knew I'd regret being big and preggo. So do what y'all want its your lives noone else's. Good luck : )
