I just ripped my brother in law a new ass.. I'm sick of him coming over & not respecting my rules.. Our Dane is not allowed on the couch & he knows that.. but he let's him on there well I'm in our room napping with the hubby.. & then he eats in the living room.. when there's a perfectly good table not to far from the TV in the living room.. I do not want food all over our house & drinks on the new table with out a coaster.. We just spent $2,500 on that new living room set & the table has a scratch & is chipped already & there's crumbs in between the seats of the couches.. but my husband says I'm overreacting & to calm down?! It's not about the materlistic stuff & I enjoy having people over but our stuff is not being respected.. I just told my brother in law that he is not welcome over until he can respect my rules & I'm a bad guy? Are you freaking kidding me? There are these rules for a reason.. Am I overreacting?!

@bree_55, Men brush things off easily and since its his brother of course he will try and defend him , but I bet if it was your FAM doing it he would feel the same way you feel

you have every right to be mad! people don't understand why we set rules, but it shouldn't matter whether they understand the rules or not, if it's not their house then they need to be respectful and follow the rules. I do not allow my dog on the furniture either.

This reminds me when I first got married I went to Macy's to purchase my living room set , we spent $ 3,000 so my husbands friends decide to come over and see our new place they brought red wine and I specially told my husband no food or drinks in living to because they had just delivered the couches that day and we also had white carpet but nobody listened to me , and one of his friends opened the wine bottle and some how it slipped and fell all on my brand new couch I was livid , I kicked everyone out and my husband was like it was an accident I'm like yes thats why I specifically said no food or drinks specially red wine. After that all his friends hated me lol now they don't talk to my husband , its okay I don't care my house my rules. So you have the right to let your brother in law know what the rules are

@mama_uhv_4, Ugggh, I'm just so mad right now.. I told my husband to take his ass home & that he's not allowed over until he can respect our things.. we have had this talk.. he like gets in my mother in laws face & is just all around ignorant & walks all over her.. keep in mind he is 20 years old.. & I told him he's not allowed over until he can respect her because if he can't he's not going to respect our things or rules.. that was the last effing straw for me.. I don't want my Dane getting on the furniture especially after baby gets here.. but I'm due July 31st.. haha, doc said he's taking me early though.. 3 to 4 weeks.. I'm high risk..
