Actually you can take the mini pill within a 10min gap of when you normally take it. So if you typically take it at 7 you can take it at 710 and it still be effective. But any later you're taking a risk
@crunchymomma, oh for sure. I was pumping but supplementing with formula so I did the mini pill. My OB never told me everything that went into that pill and I got pregnant 2 months later. @nallely94, I took mine on time every single day cause I was not trying to get pregnant so soon. Even with being extremely careful and very almost "ocd" with it, I still got pregnant. I just don't think should even be an option given the rates of pregnancy while on it
I did the mini pill for about 6 weeks but we weren't planning on having intercourse until 8 weeks after, had a c section so I was trying to get time to heal, but ended up not breastfeeding that long so changed to regular pill. For mini pill, you HAVE to take it at the same time every day, if you take it at 7, it has to be 7 every single day, not 710,715,720 exact time. My cousin was using breastfeeding as her birth control only because her ob told her she couldn't be on the pill and viola, her baby is 8 months in April and she is 8 weeks pregnant
@boenischpartyof5, that's not true, the mini pill is only 50% effective if you're not breast feeding. the mini pill is for breast feeding because breast feeding in itself is a form of birth control but it's not 100% effective, the mini pill plus breastfeeding IS an effective birth control.
while breast feeding you can have the nexplanon, different IUD's, the minipill, and the depo Provera (depo is not recommended at all honestly.)
there are breastfeeding safe birth controls out there. Do NOT take the mini pill though. It's only a 50% effective rate and there is a large percentage of women who become pregnant within 6 months (and less) of being on it. You will still need another form of protection if you decide to take it
