I think I just found a bed bug and I am FREAKING OUT. I do not want to bring my son into this.…

Oh my god they're literally impossible to get rid of. I'm sorry this helps nothing but I feel your pain. You have to pretty much throw your bed away and clean the fuck out of everything before you bring a new bed in. They can hide in mirrors and the corners of wood and things around your bed also, and in ANY fabric in your house. Like I had a mirror behind my bed I had to throw away (they were ALL over the back of it) a recliner I had to throw away... I had to wash every single thing that was fabric. You CAN put them through the hottest dryer cycle, twice and that kills them but I still washed first. Shoes went in the dryer briefly also. I mean they're almost impossible to spot and you have to clean the fuck out of everything. Its literally the worst thing that has ever happened to me. Then I was totally bed bug free in an entirely new place with new things. I had to move out even after cleaning for weeks on end and having an exterminator, didn't get rid of them. So I moved and was finally free of them... then I was forced to move into my parents house and they have them so bad here. There isn't anything I can even do because you have to treat the whole house and it is essentially extremely expensive to do because you would possibly most likely have to throw a lot of things out.

They do sell mattress covers that you can put over your mattress which will lock them inside and they will die. But you will still have them if they are ANYWHERE else. The mattress cover itself is extremely expensive, like hundreds of dollars. Depending on your situation and how much stuff you have that might be the best option. My bed was so far gone and the place I lived in at the time was infested with them, the whole building basically which I didn't know before moving there, and I just left all my shit there and left basically. It was either buy a cover for the mattress or get a new mattress. Pretty much the same price and not worth it to save that specific mattress.

My current situation I just have to deal with it. I couldn't possibly explain how terrible this is, but that is my only option. All of MY possessions are in my parents garage because I don't want to contaminate them. The bed I sleep in will be left here and not taken when I go. It doesn't REALLY cause any harm to pregnant woman or babies or anyone. I have intensely researched this. But it is EXTREMELY annoying and uncomfortable and gross every single day. I basically just have to deal with it and I can't tell you how cautious I will be to never get them again once I leave here. Nothing could even be more annoying and uncomfortable to think about.

@babymay2016, omg that just makes me so unhappy. I plan on fuming the room and trying my best to clean as much as I can tomorrow but I can barely sleep right now. Honestly just makes me want to start over but I don't have the money to. I am so paranoid now I can't sleep ugh.

Yeah I know exactly how you feel I guess it should make us feel better that it doesn't cause any harm except maybe small itchy bites. It will do no harm to you or baby, just really gross. Before you fumigate you need to wash EVERYthing and dry on the hottest setting. Pillows, stuffed animals, clothes, curtains, blankets.. everything. And vacuum everything and make sure you empty the bag. I would look up a list online of what to do before you do that. There is like 20 things you're supposed to already have done. I washed everything, packed everything up, and basically moved out for a day and moved back in.

It took me a week to get everything prepared before they would fumigate. There was nothing in my apartment except the furniture, all drawers open and everything however many inches from the wall.

i used this white powdet until i could get someone to spray my place. its natural and drys them out. i think its called diatomaceous earth. i put it heavly on my baseboards and under my bed. it kept them away from me so way less bites.
