Is anyone else deciding not to use baby powder on their child? I've read a lot about it containing carcinogens and because of this I'm staying away from all baby powders and Johnson and Johnson products as well (including their household products). Is baby powder really necessary, and if so is there a safer alternative to it that I could use? I know nothing about this kind of stuff and it's beginning to worry me. I'm afraid I'm gonna be a bad mom.

@katarama, don't feel that way lol. it's used to keep babies dry in the diaper.. usually for heavywetters.. or babies prone to diaper rash. I used butt paste which I swear by for any baby lol.
im definitely not going to use regular baby powder ive been looking at the organic baby powder though
at the hospital when I had my daughter the nurse told me not to use Baby powder that for me to ask my pediatrician. .. I never did I put Dr smith on her so she won't get a rash
.
i use aquaphor for diaper rash, to prevent and treat. works great and totally safe. i use it for myself too, for tattoos, healing skin, psoriasis.
I've used baby powder on all 3 of my kids and will on the new one too. I lotion them up after bath time and when the lotion dries powder goes on so they don't feel sticky. And goes on butts at diaper changes.
i was the same!!! until recently my son got a rash and all the creams would burn him to were he would scream, so i thought I'll just put a little powder with my fingers and it healed him quick. that's the only thing I'll use it for if he gets another rash. and ofcourse only dab it on the rash. goodluck! @katarama
baby powder has talcum powder in it which is shown to cause cancer
I Refuse To Use Baby Powder On My Daughter. It's Used To Soak Up Moisture To Help/Prevent Diaper Rashes. I Use Monkey Butt Powder On My Daughter Every Time She Gets A Rash And It Clears Up Within A Day! @katarama
@gypsy.soul2, I feel like an idiot but what exactly is it used for??
and no its not necessary.. I've never once used it but all babies are different
