Why Wasn't I Told to Bring My WIC Envelope?

That's got to be one of the worst things to experience. I'm sorry. I'd have cried my eyes out. Hang in there mama.

I got wic a couple weeks ago you should call this number that it suppose to be on the envelope, it's to report problems or concerns, they consider it wic abuse.

no need to be embarrassed. people are always rude to us who use WIC/Food Stamps, they think they're better then us just because we need a little help. and as far as bringing the booklet with, the office should have explained that to you. I just keep the whole thing in my purse, because some people ask for it and others don't.

Wow I never have to bring mine.. I just take my card and get the items I can get and put in my pin... I never needed any envelope or anything. I had it my first time using it every since then I just knew the things I could and couldn't get.

@kelseys, I've brought it every other time and they never asked for it but the one time I forgot it by accident was the time that they wanted it. :(

@lynnx1800, we don't have a card here. we have vouchers you have to sign and give to the cashier. apparently the cashier is supposed to make sure the signatures match up but like I said, they never ask for mine.

people who don't know how WIC is used are the ones to judge... I'm sorry you had to go through that :(

the amount of disrespect people get for using wic is disgusting. I was at Walmart and the woman behind me started putting her food on the counter. the cashier screams at her "if you using wic, go to another register, this is the express line we ain't got time for that". like way to call her out like that. she didn't have any papers or anything in her hand.

I would call the number, that is just rude and they need to be turned in for it.... make sure you tell them that that particular store never asked for it before..... I'm so sorry you had to deal with that

aww, yeah stores are getting pretty strict about that lately. but it's a good thing in the long run, cause if yours get stolen, no one could use them, and they would get replaced. screw them people, don't let them make you cry, it was an honest mistake hun!

I was told if you don't have your envelope that you just show them your ID. They shouldn't have done that to you 😢

How does the card work @lynnx1800 this is the first time I'm hearing of it

Our WIC office gives you a "debit" card and you don't have to use your envelope anymore. They just give you a list of what you're allowed each month and the debit card will only let you buy what's been preloaded onto it.

@telliey, Well it looks exactly like a foodstamp card with your name on it and it says WIC. Basically all of the stuff they give here which is 10$ in fruits and vegetables 4 gallons of milk 2 half gallons and stuff like that.. U just give them the card and you get your items. I guess its basically the vouchers balance just on a card Lol

I was just wondering @lynnx1800 because here they're so specific with what you can and can't get as far as brands and stuff I thought it might me somewhat of a hassle, but I'd prefer a card honestly.

Yeah, the card is better its still specific on what you can get but some stores each category says wic item for items you can get with wic. @telliey
