how many mommies on here are breastpumping? It hurts and I don't want to give up on it. any advice
@cass_lynne, your milk doesn't come in until a couple days after baby is born. you won't get anything but some colostrum, and the risk of really painful contractions. I wouldn't recommend it
I found that out today that I had a shield that was way too big and it was painful. I can't wait to try a size that fits and see what I can pump out before my son arrives.
also make sure you are using a comfortable speed setting. pumping shouldn't hurt just annoying
make sure u have the correct size flange and use virgin coconut oil around the nipple area it's safe for baby and helps the areola and nipple glide through pumping sessions
they have small medium and large. you want just your nipple being sucked in. try a lighter sucking setting until your let down then let it rip
. I am using the ones I got from medela. is it the same size as your nipples?
I was told I was just fine to try to pump. It helps start labor. I know my milk doesn't come until the baby is born. But it's worth it to pump some colostrum and save it for the hospital in case the baby can't latch. I've done my research. There's no harm in it. @aj33
