Anyone got any advice on how to relieve spd? I have had it slightly since 24-25 weeks however thought it was growing pains, over last week or 2 (I'm now 36+4) it's horrendous can hardly move especially at night!! Affecting every daily routine and can't stand the pain no more, also does it go away straight after birth? 😭

Birthing ball and sleeping with pillows inbetween my legs helped but doesn't make it go away completely! But on the positive side it went as soon as Id delivered x

Good! Clinging on to that haha. @tam77 my midwife referred me to physio, where they just show you how to manage it she said, but they haven't rang me. Not long left I suppose. Thanks @darciepenny the pillow between legs helped a bit. Since posting this I have pottered around at my own pace doing washing and things and fine that sometimes eases it, it's just at nighttime it's the worst! You will know what I mean lol xx

Just take everything really easy, don't open your legs too wide, take stairs one step at a time xxx

Let them know when you're in labour so they can help you with some positions,xx

A support belt, a pregnancy pillow, if low risk pregnancy you should be able to get a small dose prescription of Codeine from your GP, I used to mainly take it in the evening, I'd have a hot bath, take my codeine then climb into bed with the electric blanket on and it'd help me get some sleep before I was in pain again.. My SPD went after I healed from labour/birth/epidural which was about 15hrs after birth when I got home and had a hot bath.. But yes, go slowly.. I was in so much pain I had to sit down when washing dishes and sit on the floor when hoovering lol xx

Thanks ladies!!☺️ I always get down on the floor then realise I can't get back up eg putting things in the washer and it's horrible lol. Heard bad things about codeine but they wouldn't give it to you if it was dangerous would they, might ask my midwife. Did you find a support belt helped @emmajo ? Xx

No, codeine is safe if you don't abuse it :) I used to take one a day when I was actually prescribed to take two.. But that was my choice as I don't like taking medication for anything not even paracetamol for a headache lol.. You're in the last few weeks too so baby wouldn't get any side effects or withdrawals (that can come with morphine based medicines) either, that happens if you're using it quite heavily for a long period of time.. I used it from I think 34/35 weeks and son was born 38 weeks and perfectly healthy, and actually quite advanced with his development.. Midwife can't prescribe it though you'll have to see a GP, that's what I did :) I didn't use a support belt with my son and I'm not in need of one yet this time around so I can't say tbh lol.. But it's just getting through these last weeks without crying everytime you gotta do laundry.. In the end I couldn't even walk :( I'd say to try stay active though cause if you stop then you'll probably seize up more xxx
