I had my wic appointment yesterday. I left feeling like a shitty mom for not being able to breastfeed my daughter because my milk just wasn't coming through at all so I had to switch to formula because my child was starving. The lady was very unsupportive and just rude. She was asking me "Did you try at least?" "Will because YOUR not breastfeeding we can only keep you on for six months, while the BREASTFEEDING moms can stay a year" I'm already feeling like a complete failure for not being about to breastfeed so she made me feel wore. then she just made me feel incompetent for how I'm feeding my child talking to me like I'm stupid because how I'm doing the amounts is not to their "standards". Last night I just broke down in tears because I couldn't help nurse my child to sleep.

that's not true girl my best friend doesn't breast feed and her daughter is a year and she just got taken off

1- that's rude as hell. 2- forget her. 3- some women and babies struggle with it. I couldn't breastfeed my first born 4- you could still try breastfeeding since your itty bitty is still young. 5. Don't feel bad!!!! Formula will feed your baby just fine.

they are always like that at wic ,they just think ppl make excuses I breastfeed but I hear people say this all the time

I've had the same type of experience with my WIC rep and I only breastfeed.. I think they THINK they're above us or they are just so annoyed with their job that they have to make every mom feel like crap..don't let her get you down Hun. We got criticized with his weight, my pregnancy weight gain and his fussiness while feeding. It's ridiculous. (Sorry for the rant)

Smh so sorry you had to go through that. You should report her. I have been blessed to breastfeed all my babies but I don't put down a woman who can't or doesn't. Long as your child is gaining and thriving it shouldn't matter. And she obviously don't know her job because a woman can stay on WIC until the child turns 5!!!!

@sexxymama83, they are letting my daughter stay on till she turns 5 it's just they are only keeping me for only 6 months because I'm not breastfeeding and because I'm not breastfeeding my vouchers got smaller.
