as you can see by the date on this photo is over 2 years old, it's of my son it's his first picture (he was born at 11:45 pm on Sept 28 2013, I'm sure once they got him settled they took it for me); anywho I haven't shared this with too many people as it's still quite hard for me to talk about, but I feel I can here without judgement, so almost 2 1/2 years later here is my birth story for my first born child, warning it is rather long lol.... I woke up at one of my normal middle of the night bathroom visits, when I stood up I felt what seemed like discharge and didn't think too much of it so I turned the bathroom light off and reached for the door, only to hear something land on the floor. I turned the light back on and looked down but couldn't see anything so I took my pants back down and sat on the toilet and noticed quite a bit of blood, I was 32 weeks and 4 days, I know they say a little bit of bleeding is ok sometimes but I had a complete placenta previa that didn't move so obviously I was scared. I opened the bathroom door and woke my husband (we weren't actually married then) and told him and he got up and came in the bathroom and said "call the birthing center (the name for our labor and delivery). no better yet just get ready we will just go in." asked what I needed I told him, new pj pants new underware, a pad, and a bag for the underware and pants I had been wearing so they could see how much blood, I knew they would want to know. so at 1:45 in the morning we headed in. my Dr was out of town, but they called him anyway and he said as long as the bleeding stopped to keep me for 2 hours and send me home. at 4:30 I went back home. I then slept from 5 until about 8 and got up and continued my day. around 2:30 I was getting ready for my husbands nephews wedding, which my husband was the dj for the reception. we were almost completely ready, I had my hair and makeup completely done and was dressed, and I sneezed, yes that's all I did lol, and something didn't feel right so I went in the bathroom and I was bleeding again, and I passed 2 clots, 1 the size of a quarter and 1 the size of a half dollar. I told Dustin "hey I'm bleeding again" he said "what?" I said "I sneezed and I'm bleeding" his response " oh your nose is bleeding" I said "no! I am bleeding". I called the birthing center and they told me to call the on call Dr and see what he wanted me to do. so I call the answering service and I explain what is going on and the bitch on the other end says "is this an emergency?" I said "I am not sure the birthing center told me to call" and she gets snippy and says "that's not what I asked, I asked if it was an emergency" so I snapped back "I'm sitting on my toilet bleeding and passing blood clots so yes I guess it's fucking emergency" (sorry for the language) she then sweetly says "ok I will page Dr Tugwell (yes that is his true name lol) and have him call you. you should receive a call in about 15 minutes". I go out to the living room and wait. as I had been told about 15 minutes later I get the phone call and I explain to the Dr what is going on. he says "I want you to meet me at the hospital, and I am going to keep you overnight for observation". so I change out of my cute outfit I bought for the wedding (I was sad) put some pj pants and a t-shirt on and grab my pillow and phone charger and away we went. (my husbands business partner was with us as he was helping him dj that night). at approximately 4 pm we got back up to the hospital. I got hooked up to the monitor, called my mom to come up, and got settled. the Dr came in around 5 and said "the bleeding has stopped, so this is just an observation night". I told Dustin to go dj the reception because he had told his nephew he would, I was just going to be laying there anyway. my mom was there with me to keep me company. I was fine, texting him thru the night and eating dinner and pumpkin pie (which I rubbed in dustins business partners face cuz he loves pumpkin pie lol). I was laughing about a book with my mom and I started bleeding again, but it stopped as quick as it started. I bled a couple more times (I had told my mom no laughing or sneezing allowed) and the last time it took them a bit longer to get it to stop. Dr Tugwell happened to be on the floor at that time and he came in looked at the readout from my monitor (I had been having contractions and never felt them) and left the room. Dustin called me and said they were done and he was going home changing clothes and getting my car instead of the truck and would be there in an hour. about 15 minutes later a nurse came back in with the Dr (I was shocked he was still there as it was about 10:15 or so) he walked in and turned the monitor so I could no longer see it. he told the nurse "I want a Foley and an extra port in her hand just in case" he then kept asking me if the baby was moving and I kept saying "yes he's moving a lot". finally he looks at me and says "I have to deliver him tonight" well my mom wasn't in the room since they were putting my Foley and port in, I was half hysterical at this point and asked if he could wait at all he asked me why so I told him "so my boyfriend the baby's father can get here" he told me he had 15 minutes and not a minute more to get there he wasn't waiting any longer than that. I called Dustin and told him he had 15 minutes to get there. he told his other nephew and business partner "get your seat belts on if they aren't already we have to GO" and proceeded to scare the crap out of his nephew by driving about 90. I was completely hysterical after I hung up the phone, managed to tell my mom how to use my phone to call my dad, and then just freak out. the nurses were worried I wouldn't be able to sign the consent forms but my mom took my hand and said "I'm sure Dr tugwell has done a few c-sections in his time here (he was about 62 or 63 at the time lol)" and I managed to calm down to sign. Dustin came running down the hallway and the Dr told him "we just got her calmed down, please don't get her all worked up again" he came in and told me "you will be fine, Easton will be fine, everything is going to be ok" and went to the bathroom to change into scrubs. they took me out of the room and down to surgery. I got in there and was shaking uncontrollably from nerves and being cold. they wrapped warm blankets around my arms. the last thing I remember is them saying "ok we are giving you the good stuff" and I felt them clean my belly. this part is what Dustin told me later: he got down to the operating room and a nurse told him to sit on a chair they had in the hall and Dr would come talk to him momentarily. Dr Tugwell came by and said "let me go assess the situation and I will let you know if you can come in" he went in (I was remember seeing him come in and then leave) he went back out and said "I'm sorry I don't have time to do a spinal, I have to get the baby out. you can't come in" so Dustin just sat there. a few minutes later a nurse came out and said "she is just about asleep. now your baby may have translucent skin and may not look like a normal newborn since he is so early" Dustin just sat there and said "ok. ok. ok" after each of her statements. she then walked down to the nurses station, which wasn't that for down the hall, and dustin heard our son scream thru both sets of double doors in the operating room. I remember waking up and seeing ceiling tiles move, and feeling the most excruciating pain. I have ever felt, I apparently wasn't given pain meds until I was more coherent in recovery. I get into recovery and the nurses are talking to me (no idea what they were saying) and then I heard them say they were going to give me fentynol and all I could think to myself was "isn't the crap that killed Michael Jackson?" (FYI it isn't lol he had been given something else lol crazy anesthesia lol). then they had to ask me questions to make sure I was doing ok: nurse katy "what is your name" me "Sarah Clark" nurse katy "what is your birth date?" me "June 28, 1983" (yes I was 30 lol) nurse katy "what is today's date?" I stop and think "well it was sept 28 but is it after midnight?" so my other nurse Britney says "what day did you come to the hospital?" me "September 28, 2013" (apparently the year was important to me) nurse katy "who is the president?" me (and I'm sorry of this offends anyone) "WELL let me tell you he is NOT A nice guy". nurse katy and nurse Britney start laughing hysterically. nurse Britney "I think she's fine" nurse katy "but does she know his name?" me " yeah it's obama" I wonder if they still ask that question lol. then they have Dustin come in. he tells me "he's ok, he weighed 5 pounds 5 ounces and is 20 1/2 inches long" me "well that's good" Dustin " he has his I.V in his head and has oxygen as well" me "his iv is WHERE???" nurse katy (who was actually supposed to leave at 11 but stayed so they weren't short staffed due to my emergency c-section ) "Sarah it's ok they sometimes put the iv on a newborns head since they can find the vein so easily" me "well I guess that's ok" I then get told I can't have anything to drink or eat for awhile and am sent back to my room with a washcloth to suck on. I get there they tell me "you have a med pump that you can hit the button ever 30 minutes. your blood pressure cuff will go off every 30 minutes (I must have been pretty coherent cuz I thought to myself well after my cuff goes off I can give myself meds). refill the rag with water as needed. we will being ice chips in when you can have them" so my mom, my dad, and my step mom and my oldest niece Britney (not my nurse lol) get ready to leave and my step mom asks "how does it feel to be a mommy?" me "it freaking hurts". the next day my sisters in law and their families came and visited and I had a couple other visitors. I finally got to go see my son 15 hours after he was born and hold him. he wouldn't latch, sometimes premies dont. Monday morning my nurse Britney came in my room to check on me and told me the pediatrician was making her rounds and was talking about sending Easton to the nicu hospital because his breathing wasn't getting better as fast as she had hoped (I only had 1 steroid shot when I was in for false labor 2 1/2 weeks before I delivered). I burst into tears.i called Dustin and told him and he got there shortly after. Dr came in and told me she was sending him to the nicu hospital (45 minutes away) and again I burst into tears. Dustin calmed me down. Dustin went with him (followed the ambulance) and his sisters met him up there so Easton wasn't alone when he got there. 11 days later I got to finally bring my baby boy home. he is now a healthy happy 2 year old and you would never know that he was early. I will say that this was the most terrifying and rewarding day of my life. sorry this was so long, but that is my oldest child birth story. and yes I remember every bit of it

Wow, what an amazing (and very scary!) story. I'm so happy for you though, and it's a blessing that you remember so much of that day

thanks mama @emkasting it really is a blessing... I think it's because I was so scared, knowing the major complications a previa can cause if I were to have gone into labor

@sarahdrew, I was told I was very close to having previa, about 1cm away from it. But they just called it low lying. Then thankfully at my last ultrasound at 29 weeks it had moved. I had read about the crazy complications it had the potential to cause if it didn't move, and it scared me

I wanted to thank you ladies for your kind words.... I hadn't shared this story before, for a couple reasons: it being 2+ years ago and because I was a bit nervous about negativity... the kind words and all the likes I received show me that the women on this app are truly there for one another... thanks again mamas ☺💟❤
