I don't get why people are being induced just because their overdue and have no complications? now…

Doctors monitor overdue babies very closely because sometimes they get to big & can't be birthed, it leads to complications etc- there have actually studies saying baby born in the 39th week of pregnancy are healthier in the long run

plus some of us can't take maternity leave until we give birth which is absolutely miserable and painful.

Some people also have medical reasons to be induced like diabetes, preeclampsia, high blood pressure etc. very often is not a patient choice but it's a doctor's recommendation to make sure baby and mommy are fine and both healthy....

It's doctor recommendation. Babies need to be born at least 2 weeks after their due date or there could be complications.

I felt that way too! I gave birth at 39 weeks by myself though, so induction was never a possibility

@selizabeth292 well I'm overdue and getting induced. I can't leave school until I go to the hospital, which is stressful and actually hurts pretty bad. plus as others have said, going too long can cause major issues

like I get if your pass a week or 2 but 2-5 days after. I think that they should wait if everything is going good. that's just my opinion tho! @stasjafawn @kattastrophe

yeah if its past 42 weeks. definitely be induced! I just don't want to be induced because I'm a couple of day past my due date if their is no other problems @stasjafawn

@selizabeth292, I understand what you're trying to say. there are people who will make their doctor induce labor just because they don't want to be pregnant any more. not talking about medical reasons or mom/baby safety.

my doctor actually gave out pamphlets and had posters on the walls about it
