I'm pretty sure you can't request it, definitely not before the due date. also from what I've heard there isn't a good probability it will work anyway x

you can request one at 40 weeks, they don't normally do one any earlier than this but can't refuse one at 40 weeks. I looked on the NHS website.. then they will probably so one at +7 then again at +10 providing everything goes okay. xx

If it's your first apparently you can get a sweep from your due date, if it's not your first your usually offered one when you are a week overdue. It may be different in different areas though but that's how it works where I am. I managed to convince them to give me a sweep tomorrow and I'll be 40+5 with my third xxx

Not sure about Edinburgh but in Glasgow midwife has to ask ur consultant! She isn't allowed to unless been given permission off consultant xx

She should get special rights cos she's ur birthing partner!!! My mum got told off her boss she didn't etc and that need to see what rota like so my mum went higher and found a policy which states she is intitled to go as soon as I'm in labour will go down as compassionate leave and then she's allowed 2 weeks off after Iv given birth xx

Really? My mums taken 10th - end of April off, but if I go over due she won't be there.. Xx

You can ask,as it's possible to be induced from 39 weeks it just depends on if midwife feels comfortable doing something like a sweep a little early, I'm going to ask for an induction because my husband gets 2 days of and has managed to get free travel to come see me but that's at my 41 week point so he could miss seeing our baby completely for another month xxx
