the ones i used were cloth squares that you put on the baby like a diaper using pins to keep it together then the outside part that goes over it so nothing leaks out. them you wash the cloth part when they dirty it.

There are all sorts of different cloth diapers. I have prefolds, pockets, all-in-ones, and flips. each are used a little differently. You wash them all like regular clothing just no fabric softener. You wouldn't use sposies (disposables) with them. they help a lot with babies with sensitive skin and parents, like me, with sensitive wallets.

@milestide25, do they have like inserts or pads or is it just the cloth? I think that's what I'm confused about. Like do they just poop in it and you throw it in the washing machine or is it just an insert that you remove and replace??

All-in-ones have built in inserts. Flips and Pockets you can either put an insert in or use them as a cover for prefolds (those are the square cloths that the last above mentioned). I have little handy dryer sheet looking things that you can put it to help remove poop. You can just pick it out and flush it or throw it away. Then you can rinse it in the shower if it is a big mess and throw it in the washer. I have pockets and ai1s and some prefolds for newborn stage. I found a wonderful support group for my community in Facebook for cloth diapering mommas. They help so much and also always have used (great conditon) ones for sale.

Check to see if you have a cloth diaper service around where you live! We do! They pick up or diapers, clean them and bring them back! The service is great! We pay 23 dollars a week for 80 diapers! Even cloth wipes! LOVE IT!
