My previous pregnancies I didn't hesitate when the asked if I wanted the Epidural, now the last time I gave birth getting the epidural was very traumatic for me & my husband, in the moment I swore I'd NEVER get another one! I won't got into details about exactly what happened as I don't wanna scare any moms to be. Lol but anyways! What other meds are available for pain during labor? I always had the potocin to calm the pain until 7cm when the epidural was due. I wonder if I could refuse the epidural & do the potocin instead, I'm figuring maybe refusing the potocin until I'm at 7cm. Since it is less effective every time it's used.
❌ I'm aware I used the word potocin wrong, it's not meds for pain, it's to put you in labor, my memory is a little fuzzy since my last time giving birth 5 years ago, I don't feel like going through all the above and re wording. Lol❌

they gave me medicine thru the IV that made me feel extremely hot. but right after I went from 7-10 and so it didn't really work for me. lol

@caisner, lol thanks for correcting me. I wasn't sure if that was the pain meds or what put me in labor, it's been 5 years since I've done this. So memory is kinda fuzzy. Lol

But was given some time of pain meds though iv that took the sharpness out of the contractions worked great

I had Dilaudid. Reaching 9 and 10cm I felt like it wasn't enough but pushing was such a relief I'd honestly probably go that route for my next birth as well. I don't like the feeling of being numb so I don't want an epidural.

Unless it's a trigger for you. I am also curious about what happened. I am set to be induced and don't want the epidural, but know with pitocin labor is usually worse. maybe I can strengthen my resolve to not get it before someone convinces me

pitocin is to dialate you faster, they gave me one on my iv but can only get it a max of 4 doses during the whole labor. tbh it didnt help as much once contractions started kicking harder. & i went all natural.

Damn I didn't know they are only suppose to give u 4 doses of it during labor with 2 pregnancies they gave it to me the whole time :(

Oh yeah for the other iv medication they only told me i could get it 4 times. The pitocin stays with you the whole time once you cant dilate quicker.
