It was hard work but I did it!!!! Got put on the drip for hormones to speed things up because my waters had been leaking for about a week. I was only 1.5cmdilated and they said to me that I will have to take the epidural whether it's at the start or the middle because the drip causes the labour to be even more painful quite rapidly compared to a normal labour!! But I just popped out my tens machine and use gas and air to begin with .... As things stared to get to 3cm and then 6cm dilated I took pethidine an injection in the butt (which did fuck all really). I just kept going with the tens machine and gas and air and kept concentrating on the right breathing techniques ... And pushed the 8 pounder out!
Had a few stitches and a large haemorrhage, so I was a little fragile, but it was so worth it. Ladies always keep track of these waters!!!Chris my fiancé , my mum and baby Oscar helped me get through it and it was amazing!!! Xxx
good on you hun you did amazingly! I didn't have an epidural with the drip either in fact I didn't get anything :( ...I didn't sort out getting a tens machine although I wanted to give it a go and didn't take the gas and air because when I first tried it I was really sick so I had to just grin and bare it, I tried the pethidine the night before because they said I needed to sleep as it would be a long day for me lol, I found it didn't stop the pain but too the edge off which was enough for me to rest but that was it. luckily I didn't tear but my baby was much smaller than yours, she only weighed 6lb 3oz and she was 2 days late!...well done again though hun, he's gorgeous!! xx
Ooo wooow! he is beautiful hun!! Congratulations! 😍😍😍😍💙I didn't have gas and air until I was 8cms xD I wasn't allowed it when pushing...and I was pushing for an hour :) Eventually I had to have a Spinal block as needed a forcep delivery as the doctor discovered her head was in an awkward position and therefore not budging...the spinal block didn't hurt...I actually had a contraction just as he was doing it...and had to keep very still obviously haha...my labour was also back to back xD I was cut! I also lost 3litres of blood due to my uterus not contracting/retained placenta x x
@tuftyturtle, yes definitely is amazing! Body and baby does all the work, we just have to concentrate on relaxing throughout the pain. It's tough but sooo special! 💕
I didn't have the epidural with the drip either. didn't feel like I needed it but afterwards all the Dr's and midwives kept saying it was so amazing I didn't have one! I didn't feel the need at all thou. It's amazing what our bodies can do isn't it.
