my dr just called me saying I need to take antibiotics. the one she prescribed has penicillin in it, which I'm allergic to. she asked me "what type of reactions do you have to penicillin?" I told her "idk, I was tested for allergies and was told that was what I was allergic to, so I stayed away from it" she then said to me "well then how will you know you're allergic to it if you've never tried it"

I'm allergic to penicillin. I get hives and anaphylaxis. Aka a rash and then I choke. Even if they think you might be allergic you cannot have it. Can you get another doctor?

@Jana.bear, that sucks big time. see what made me most upset is that I kept telling her that I'm allergic to it and instead of taking my word for it she tried challenging me and essentially attempted to put my and my baby's life in danger to see if what I was saying was a fluke! if I'm saying I'm allergic to it AND my chart says I'm allergic to it, don't give it to me, simple as that smh. I'm gonna try to change Monday. these doctors have been getting on my nerves for a while now

You could sue them for malpractice if you did take it and had a reaction. It's a documented allergy. I don't what she was thinking!
