I'd go while pregnant. Myself personally, wouldn't feel comfortable taking a newborn to the beach until they're at least able to sit up by themselves and maybe crawl around. So my bf and I figured we take our little girl when she's 6-8 months old. Which will be next year. Everyone's different, but it would be easier on all involved if baby could sit up and play. And not just lay there in the shade :-)

I went while pregnant but didn't take baby until a few months after he was born since they recommend not using sunscreen until later they get heat rash pretty easy even with a tent which is something else to consider I'd only go an hour at a time when I took him then he would get uncomfortable! I miss Florida enjoy!

I don't think a short trip would hurt as long as there was shade. My son was around 2 months when we went for the first time and he was perfectly fine under our big umbrella :)
