People who just dismiss postpartum depression and depression during pregnancey make me so very…

People who just dismiss postpartum depression and depression during pregnancey make me so very angry. I really hate to see people brush those feelings off like they don't matter. telling the mama feeling it to "suck it up " "put ya big girl panties on " has got to be the most insensitive thing I've ever in my life heard. It's idiots like that that cause those mama's not to get help and suffer. It's idiots like that that make those mama's feel even more pathetic and worthless then they already do. How do I know? Because I'm one of those mama's and I don't appreciate that crap! Why would you ever want to make someone feel that way? being pregnant and hormonal and having depression are two different things. just like baby blues and postpartum depression are two different things. None of the four should be brushed off. They ARE real feelings. None of those things should be used against a mother.

I agree completely ! Speaking from experience... These feelings are no joke and not something that can just be dropped or forgotten about . I wish people would understand this and stop looking at it as something minor .

@ccole2653, exactly! there is a girl I graduated with on my fbook that posted a status about how she was feeling (she's 4 weeks ahead of me so she's about 30 weeks) and this woman commented how she needed to put her big girl panties on. I was like really? unfortunately those feelings aren't ones you can just suck up and get over and move on from. and she was like well people have been having babies forever. hormones and such are part of it.. all I could say was unless you've been there you'll never understand just how insensitive and ignorant you sound. it's people like that that cause women to not speak up and get the help they need.

@mommiebear111416 I have too lately. I was doing good with this one until I hit 25 weeks.. then it's like it all hit at once..

When I had my first born I had postpartum no one knew but my mom and husband but right after I started feeling better after a month my mom got very sick and while we in and out of the hospital my family was very negative towards me and thought I was on drugs and no one understood until I said something even then they were still assholes to me even till this day they still say I was on drugs and not going through postpartum

And some women have depression before getting pregnant like myself .. I've learned to cope A LOT better without my meds since being pregnant but I still suffer with it .. Some days are worse than others but I've always been told by others that I need to suck it up @nicemmcha2015 or that I'm doing it for attention

omg I just had this same discussion with my fiance today because he came home and I was laying on the floor in the dark crying and I told him I was feeling super depressed and its been like that for awhile and all he really says is you gotta get rid of those negative thoughts. its not that damn easy it took me an hour just to tell him what was wrong ! thank god someone has made a post like this thank you for letting me see its real its not just something we should through in the back of our heads .

@reaganmommy2015, I swear people jump on the "oh they are on drugs train" way too quick. that's so ridiculous. I'm so sorry they did that to you. after my daughter people accused me of trying to keep her away from everyone... I was like no... I just need you to crawl out of my butt so I can deal and cope how I need to. basically I wasn't "allowed" to be anything other than over the Rainbow and all smiles I wanted people to stay away because I got tired of feeling like I had no choice on how to feel. like I had to be fake to make everyone else happy.

@ccole2653 and that's terrible. I've been told the same thing. but I don't get how the people who say those things think they have an honest to god right to tell someone how they do and don't feel?

@mommy.to.be.041016 yes, Hon it's totally real. but too many times it gets dismissed as hormones or part of being pregnant. yeah you're hormonal and emotional to a point... but those are real feelings. and after a point it becomes more than just "pregnancey emotions" that people like to brush it off as. covering it up and trying to hide it in my experience makes it alot worse. pregnant or not pregnant you have a right to feel however it is you're feeling.

@hermommy and you're right karma sure will.

mama's are one of the most criticized groups of people I've ever seen... we get criticized for feelings, how we feed baby, how we dress baby... what we do and don't let be done with baby.. mama's are also one of the most brushed off groups of people too. especially mom's to be. "oh you're just being hormonal." no damn it. I have feelings that are real. not just pretend like everyone tries to make them.
