the mesh underwear (the white pair) are what they give you in the hospital, I took two when I left and they were all I needed for the time I was scared I'd bleed through, they're super easy to wash, all you have to do is run them under water in the sink and then hang to dry, I switched out between the two until I felt I didn't need them anymore.

Lol, I brought some old ones and didn't even use them I just took the mesh ones. I wouldn't buy any though, just take what they give you!

You do, but not so much that you need a lot of underwear like that. Maybe a lot of good pads, but not excessive underwear. You only really bleed a lot the first few days, then it lightens up quite a bit, then you bleed for about 2-6 weeks usually sometimes more, sometimes less. It's more of a long "period" type bleeding than a super heavy one. if that makes sense.
