I'm 5, almost 6 months PP and no period yet. 👍🏼 breastfeeding has more benefits than just delaying menstruation but that's definitely one of the perks. I believe if you delay the start of solid foods at 6 months and continue breastfeeding there's still a good chance of delaying your period from starting even longer too.

My sons still breastfed I didn't get a period from feb 14 2014 until January 24 2014 if you exclusively breastfeed and cosleep, night nurse etc it usually takes a while to come back but obviously not everyone can do that because of work etc but it's been really great minus waiting to have another baby 😂

@mommaheathco, It does for some people. You of course will bleed because of delivery for a couple days it depends on the person and delivery but an actual period may not come back the entire time you breastfeed

@torymarrero would you say your lack of menstruation is due to breastfeeding? (Awesome job by the way momma!!!)

My mother breastfed all four children a year each and so went that entire year with no period. I'm hoping I'm as lucky! of course I'm breastfeeding for other reasons as well but its definitely a bonus! :) @torymarrero

And yes defiantly for the first 6months you can do your research on like circumstances but it's 97% effective as a birth control there's a lot of articles online about breastfeeding and natural spacing! Co sleeping skin to skin and breast feeding on demand I would 100% say delayed my period and the only reason I think I got it back is because I left him with my mom a few nights last month for my 21st and was to drunk to co sleep or nurse 😂 it's really great saves a lot of money as well

@lilkountryma, that's really awesome! I planed to stop at a year but not I'm just waiting for him to self wean or to dry up with this pregnancy and hopefully him stop for a while or completely 😅 if not I'll nurse them both but limit him for sure

@torymarrero, Yes first year is a definite goal for me and than I'll see if he weans himself or not and I plan on going from there determined to breastfeed no matter what anyone says lol

@lilkountryma, that's great!! It's so hard to stop and it's sooo good for them since he was home from the nicu he's never been sick despite me getting sick (-:
