Starting to think about labor & birth. My OB brought up the topic of cord blood banking. I've been reading a little about delayed cord clamping and the immediate and long term benefits for baby. I don't think we want to spend the money to bank the cord blood with no real guarantee we'll ever need it or be able to use it. My thought is at least with delayed the baby gets the benefits right away. Obviously if there's an emergency and the cord need to be cut immediately, that is what has to be done. But in a normal, routine birth - I'm really leaning towards delayed clamping. Thoughts? Have any of you done one or the other?

I delayed clamping my first daughters cord and plan to with this baby too. Honestly I don't understand why it's not routine procedure, there's so many benefits and it's not like it's a huge hassle or anything. Plus you get extra cuddle time while they're still connected.
