mom advice: my 9 year old got caught stealing from other kids backpacks at school.... what would be suitable punishment?
and my 6 year old got in an argument with a class mate and threatened to have his brother stab her with a pocket knife.... again.... what would be suitable punishment?
I am at such a loss with my kids behavior this week. They've never done things like this before but it seems like every time they come back from seeing their dad, they get worse....
I need advice... please?

I'd spank my child for those things lol but if that's not your thing then ground them and take away their privileges. tv, video games, phones, computers, allowance, etc. those things you also should sit and talk to them about though...threats are serious. also if you feel like their dad is an influence talk to him about it

maybe they should stop seeing their dad, or something needs to change at his house. Young children usually act out because something is wrong with their environment. If they act that way after seeing him you should talk to him about it. They still need to be punished, but try the root of the problem as well.

if this is happening after visits, talk with dad and let him know this is becoming a very serious issue. Also sit down and talk with your kids. Explain that you are very upset with them and you demand to know why they would choose to make the decision they made. have them come up with a couple other choices that would have been better. If the talk does not go well with dad maybe ask what he thinks about having a parent teacher conference with you and the teachers... (this usually scares them hahaha)

Maybe have them write apology letters to the other children involved. We just had a parent freak out and press charges against one of our elementary school kids because he kicked her child enough to leave a bruise. Teachers are required to tell parents of children involved of the situation but we cannot share names- the kids tend to this anyway

I would talk to their teachers and make both of them give a public apology in front of their class and then be grounded from whatever they like to do and/or give them chores to do.

And definitely speak with Dad!! There's something wrong there. And talk with them about the seriousness of threats and stealing. Let them know kids go to jail too. My son made a comment to me about stabbing someone and I showed him kids can go to jail to. He hasn't said anything since
