Ladies couple random questions!
1) I'm a first time mom, should I do birthing classes? I want a vaginal birth. My SO has had two previous kids and they never went. he's open to it tho. Are they beneficial?
2) Labor with an epidural? What was that like? I am not so good with pain, so I know I will definitely be getting one. Are they painful to get? Do you actually feel 'pain' after its in and takes affect? Do you feel Rips/tears? Episiotomy?
3) My SO and I aren't married. We have been together for 3 years and we have talked about it and we plan to we just haven't. I would love to get married before our little boy gets here? Am I crazy? Not talking an actual wedding but just signing papers and changing my name?

I can help with the second question I hope...for me when they put it in it didn't hurt too bad...and it allowed me to get rest for when it was time to push...because I was running on 3 hours of sleep the last 2 days

I'm a first time mom as well, I chose to not do birthing classes bc I think going in blind will actually be more comfortable for me, I don't want to get all anxious.
Idk about the epidural but I will be getting one too!! Fo sho
I want the same thing, you're not crazy. Really just depends on what your SO is willing to do!

@katiejay9, well for me the no the epidural didn't hurt a lot, they numb the area that did sting just a little. And when she was putting the tub Inbetween my spine it felt uncomfortable but as long as you just breathe and focus on something else you should be fine. As for the tear I'm pretty sure I felt the dr cut me but since it was still kinda numb didn't hurt. (I will warm you in my opinion recovery was worse then labor and delivery) as for feeling pain yes and no, you will be able to give yourself the epidural medicine but if you get to the limit you have to wait a certain amount of time before it lets you get more so the feeling/ pain of the contractions will come back until you can get the medicine again. But it doesn't completely go away I didn't have any pain or feeling when my son came out.

childbirth classes didn't help me. you will know what to do when labor comes, but if you feel more comfortable taking one, it wouldn't hurt. for the epidural they numb you first and I was able to get some rest before having my daughter. for getting married, just remember a marriage doesn't make a family and make sure you and your SO are ready for it. adding a baby to the mix can affect your relationship too. so if you feel you both are committed and willing to stick together through ups and downs then why not? my husband and I got married 3 months before I got pregnant and we are going on 4 years of marriage after only 11 months of dating. it's work and a lot of compromise but you can do it

and for the rips of tears with an epidural I didn't feel it. I did feel minor pinches when getting sewed up though (stitches inside and out) but they can add more numbing meds down there

First time mom, so I don't know about the first two things. But I do think marriage is awesome...although doing marriage prep is always a good idea (whether that be a class, online articles, or reading a book). :)
