I went to turn in an application at Once Upon A Child. They took me in the back for an interview and started asking questions. I disclosed that I was 5 months pregnant and the manager then told me I was unqualified for the job because it involves lifting. I said I had talked to my doctor and it was fine for me to lift that amount. She then told me once I'm 8 months pregnant I won't be able to lift and she'll keep my application on file for after I have the baby and if I still want the job she will hire me. Can I file a pregnancy discrimination lawsuit for this?

@kelsicutie, I believe so it doesn't matter how pregnant you are they can't not hire you for that reason.you don't even have to tell them your pregnant and it's illegal for them to ask you if you are..

if they didnt ask and she disclosed the information willingly they have every right to protect them selves from possible accidents and liabilities

Funny. I'm 7 months pregnant working as an emergency medical technician. My Dr said I can work up until I feel uncomfortable to do so. I'm consistently lifting anywhere from 225lbs - 350lbs. My Dr said the only reason why pregnant women get weight restrictions is if they're high risk or lifting becomes uncomfortable or straining on their own body and heavy lifting will not hurt the baby. I'd file for discrimination if you're not on any restrictions.

No, unfortunately a lot of jobs aren't up to the idea of hiring pregnant women. I lost my call center job for missing 2 days of work for Doctor appointments. Told me they'd be more than happy to give me a reference/hire me back after the pregnancy.
