I had 2 c-sections... my first I had to have one as I had a complete placenta previa that didn't move, so I had it scheduled for 39 weeks, however at 32 weeks 4 days I had some bleeding and was in the hospital for observation and it ended up in had to deliver that night due to fetal distress (not related to the previa) and it ended up emergency as the Dr didn't have time to administer the spinal so I had to be completely knocked out.... when I became pregnant with my second child I asked about vbac and the hospitals near me don't offer them so I was going to have a repeat c-section... I was around 30 weeks when I scheduled it for 39 weeks.. the second time I was able to walk into the hospital on my own on the decided date, I was able to have the spinal and be awake and my husband got to be present for our daughters birth. I feel the second time went a lot more smoothly and recovery was a breeze, I was up that night walking to the bathroom (once the spinal wore off) so the nurse could wash my back and behind a little..... I hardly took meds in the hospital and only my motrin once home (only 3 narcotics in 1 week and still have the remaining 27 lol almost 5 months later)... if I wouldn't have had a tubal last time I would definitely be ok with another c-section

I'm on the other end- I had a csection with my twins because one was breech although the my doctor was very skilled and experienced at delivering a breech baby. I regret it every day because I realize how unnecessary it was and now I'm having to fight for my VBAC. I'm seeing a doctor in my area now but plan on moving when I'm further along to the doc who will deliver my baby at the hospital. Although my birth story may not have been what I wanted, I've learned that you need to be your own self advocate. I'm driving 45minutes to Houston to have my VBAC because the chances for complications with multiple csections is very high. I've learned so much through my delivery and my current pregnancy so I'd say something good definitely came out of it

i was scheduled to have my c section January 3rd 2014. i went in for my final appointment on new years eve when they noticed my blood pressure was high. from the get :-O i decided to have a c section all because my obgyn knew my son was gonna be a big boy. my son mesured 4 weeks ahead of me. but i stayed I'm labor & delivery to see if they could get my blood pressure down and they couldnt. my dr then said we might as well take him now. once he said that i was out of it. i wasn't scared even tho my husband was terrified. but i put my trust in him and he delivered my baby boy at 10lbs 1oz. i loved it till it was time to recover and my recovery was bad! but pain didn't last that long. 2 weeks tops and i was a little mobile.

@armstrong2, @sarahdrew we all want to trust that our OB's have our best interest, and I'm certain that the majority do, but it also means doing your own research and educating yourself too, you know? I hate that I had an unnecessary surgery that I'll be recovering from for years to come, but that also put me as high risk for my current pregnancy because I got pregnant so soon after delivery. With our stories I hope it reaches out to someone to question their care and make sure their doctors have not just the baby's best interest, but the mother as well ☺️
