So something had been brought to my attention a couple nights ago, but it didn't really set in until now. I LOVE my MIL. She's an amazing woman and has done so much for me and Cameron and the baby. BUT...Cam brought it to my attention that she believes she will be in there for the birth. I honestly don't want her in there. Not because I'm trying to be a bitch, but because it's just not what I want. I had a c section the first time, and it was just my mother and I. I felt most comfortable with only one other person around me. I don't know how to tell my MIL that I just want it to be Cameron and I and that afterwards she's more than welcome to come in. I feel like a bitch because she's done so much for us, but I wouldn't be too comfortable with an entourage of people watching me be in pain and then pushing. It just seems like too much. Should I just let my husband talk to her about it? He seems to communicate better with her.

I think if you just say the same thing you wrote on here she will understand.

I think it would be better coming from you honestly cause she could feel disrespected because your not telling her yourself

if you are having a repeat c-section most of the time only 1 other person is allowed in the operating room anyway.... if doing a vbac them sit her down and say "I want it to just be Cam and I in there. I want him and I do beleive able to experience this by ourselves, and be able to bond with the baby immediately" or say what you said on your post

My MIL hasn't done shit for us, my mother has spent more than $300 on the baby and us to make sure we have every thing we need and more. and then to find out that she wants to be in the delivery room with me (my mom and sister and fiance are the only ones I want in there) pissed me off to no end. Then when she's told that and I tell her I am not comfortable with her being in there she throws a damn temper tantrum like a CHILD and stomps around her house yelling and throwing a fit. not to mention I'm 39 weeks pregnant and she wants to do all this yelling and screaming and being rude to me right now when I can go into labor at any time. yeah pissed me off. I know how you feel lol

@arachelle, @sarahdrew yeah I might just say what I put into the post. I'm just nervous because when I first went to L&D her and my FIL came into the room and it immediately made me feel awkward. Especially since none of my family live near me and won't be present for the birth, it just feels weird.

@paisleesmommy, I think I'd scream back if someone acted that way to being told no.

@paisleesmommy, it's not about her anyway. It's about you and your husband and the baby.

That's exactly what I said, it's not about her and yet she just kept going on and on about how she feels disrespected. Like are you kidding me?! SHE feels disrespected lol. And believe me I wanted to go more than just scream back at her lol. And now I can't even stand to be around her all because she had to act this way. Not only is it about us and not about her but I'm going to be completely exposed and I'm just not comfortable with her being in there while it's happening it's not like I'm doing it just to single her out or be rude (which is what she seems to think) it's about me being comfortable while I have to push a fricken human being out of me! lol @kikibee

@paisleesmommy, I agree. I'm not even comfortable when Cam is in the room when I'm getting checked. It just feels weird. I don't know why I get that way I just do. It's not a personal attack. It's a preference.

@paisleesmommy, plus I'm a royal bitch when I'm in pain so I don't want to take anything out on anyone when I'm not thinking straight.

@kikibee, My hubby always said "They weren't there when we made the child, they're NOT going to be there when we have the child." 😂 but on a side note, just nicely tell her that this is something between you and the father to be. It would sound so much better coming from you than anyone else.

I feel the same way as you do girly. I told my mother in law myself tho. We were talking about the baby one day, & she made a comment about me having to let my bf hold the baby before i do. That just came off really sideways to me so i felt it was the perfect time to let her know. I just said to her "i think Chris & I will be going through labor alone, it's our first baby i want it to be as intimate & special as possible" and she just smiled and said she agreed. Although i can tell she was bummed lol but atleast i let her know early so she doesnt get her hopes up. I also let my mom know what i had told her but also told my mom that there is a 95% chance i will call her in there last minute! lol which im pretty sure i will need my mother there. So i'm letting my mil think that nobody other then my bf will be with me, dont want her to get upset & feel like we're being unfair. My bf doesnt want to let any of his family know we're in labor until the baby is born.. his fam can be a little too pushy, i think that'll make it alot more comfortable for us.
