any tips on breastfeeding ladies?? its hurting like crazy and iv read if it hurts shes not on right?? ill ask my midwife…

I went thorough nightghmare pain, nipple cracks to the stage that it was bleeding . Few midwives was checking that i do it right but i wasnt . Then the easiest for them was to blame tongue tight. Which was Not true as well . Hard to advise i was depressed trying my best and didnt Work . Then it turned i had no enough milk anyway . But i Did use the pump to get as much as i could till the sore and pain gone and started again. Use thw cream for nipples that helps .

ok thanks @snafka i seem to have plenty of milk its just so painful every sip she drinks... just cant wait till shes on the right way and its pain free Xx

At our hospital if they lose more than 10% they hospitalise them until they're back to their birth weight 😤 my daughter lost 9.8% and then thankfully managed to gain some at the next appointment. as for breast feeding, try a different position. different holds might affect how she latches. there's one I will never be able to explain lol but Google it. It's like the head is at the front of the breast but her body is away from yours. although she might be too small for it. Good luck

yes she was 6-3 but i was told she was 6-14 so the got it far wrong... and thanks hun @mrsripper Xxx

ill give that a try and oooww no really 😢😢😢 id hate her to have to go to hospital i couldnt bear to leave her... shes on bottle and breast now so fingers crossed she dosnt loose any more when they come today... she worrys me so much Xx @tuftyturtle

You've got the rugby ball hold, which is head at the front and body behind as well as the usual baby cradle from the front. I went through hell the first couple of days breast feeding, I was in so much pain I nearly gave up! The only thing that helped me through the pain was covering my nipples and breast pads in nipple cream to soothe them after every feed! Get your midwife to check your latch and make sure she is on properly, I had a problem with Olly latching on one nipple but not the other so the midwife showed me a few tricks to get him latching properly! @babyboots xxx

Congratulations ! My advice to you to keep giving her your breast and not stop as it hurts more to get back to it. I went through so much pain and cracks in my nipples and sometimes remove him for a little while till it calms down but trust me it gets so much better and now it's so much easier and fun. In the first week I gave both bottle and breast but after that just breast and it's going well. Just don't lose hope and be patient and all will be good 😊

I had a complete meltdown the day I had Olly, I couldn't get him to latch and everyone had gone home so it was just me and baby in hospital for the night and I just couldn't do it! The midwife came in and showed me a trick and it's worked every time ever since! Always on the end of a message or a comment if you need any advice or a chat xxx

The first few days are a pain in the ass. Try different positions and take her off if it hurts and try again . I know it sounds awful but she will eventually get it . Ive been feeding 4 weeks now and he decided to chew one of my nipples to bits and its just one of the joys of breastfeeding. Also dont forget that if its the first "clamp" down that hurts its normal but if its still the same after a few sucks then she is on wrong! Good luck and hope she gains by the next weigh in ! Xx
