So my BOYFRIEND/ the father of my child told me there is a good chance he will be deployed next…

deployed or PCSing? if he deploys to iraq or Afghanistan or any other hostile environment there is no way you'd be going with him but if he is permanently changing stations youd be able to go only if you are married. this is coming from a veteran and army wife:)

my husband is deploying this year so he won't get to be there for the birth of our second child.

You can't go if he's deployed, whether married or not. Permanent change of station, only if married.

don't stress the distance. I am not saying it won't be hard but don't stress it. my husband has been gone through my WHOLE pregnancy. and is barley making it for her birth. time will fly and yes it will strain the relationship but look at it this way..... you have a child together sometimes that doesn't alway show a relationship will last but a child long moments apart and true love through the while thing at the end of it..... you will be so proud cuz you would have a love that most women don't have

Depending on the service, because I only know how the army does. @kay.forsha he can schedule his leave around due date, and I think you guys can talk to the commander and ask him how do you get in touch when baby comes. Sometimes Red Cross, will get people home for stuff like that. I know a lot of women who was pregnant when my unit and husband deployed, but their husband was home for birth. Also when both of our unit deployed and he went and I stayed, he made his two weeks around our only child at the times first birthday. So you guys may want to talk that over, this coming from not only an army wife, but a former soldier and my husband still updates me. @ashley145 well the thing with deployment is unfortunately your holding down the Homefront for him, but y'all being married is a good thing. Can you imagine you not getting any info on him, because it goes to his family. With y'all being married, he gets BAH and gets paid more. So depending on if he gets hazard pay, and if they don't take out taxes. You guys get more, and God forbid if something anything happens. If y'all are not married, they will not contact you. They will contact a mom or dad, but being married you will no before anyone. Also he is able to put down as a beneficiary on his paper work, this paper work deployed or not you have to do. Look if you have any questions my husband and I won't mind answering. Don't worry, y'all getting married or being married is because he cares really. @kay.forsha, yeah I don't know about navy, I think that would depend. Is he on a ship, or boots on ground? However I would ask him, he would know more. I know different rules for different branches.
