Go to a nice salon. I'm a stylist at a nice salon and we know exactly what to do. You don't wanna go somewhere cheap for the first time trust me. Also if you want (a lot of parents do this) you can save some hair for their book

Also bring a sucker or something and try to keep them entertained. You might have have to sit with them as well
