my daughter does the same thing.... just comfort and soothe as much as you can (I sing to my daughter, not sure if it's the singing that puts her to sleep or if it's my horrible voice and she wants to escape it lol) I also gently rub her head from front to back

- lol ... he likes when I pat him on his butt . I dunno why but that puts him to sleep. I only do it when I hold him since it's easier that way... and I do that to gently rub his head he gets tired

the classic butt pat lol works quite well usually lol it still works on my 2 year old from time to time
