My dog just woke me up freaking out like he's in pain and limping on his back leg and I have no idea why. The gate is up so he can't leave our bedroom and I don't see how he could have hurt himself

I would get it checked out my dog started doing that alot and we found out that he had hip problems. he will be fine.
