My baby loved sleeping on his side as a newborn! I put a pillow against his back so he would be leaning against the pillow and eventually learn to sleep on his back. By three months, he was sleeping on his back!

Try putting one of your shirts in there. This helped my daughter tremendously. She also began to sleep in the bouncer before she took to her crib. Follow his lead but if you allow sleeping on mommy to be the best place, that's where he'll be for a while
