I read a blog about a woman who used castor oil to induce labor (with her doctors permission after 10 days of prodromal labor) and she said it worked. She also noted that castor oil DOES NOT pass the placenta, and that the meconium increase is more popular in pregnancies 40+ weeks. If I stay in the early stages of labor and don't progress, I'm going to talk to my doctor. But until then, this is what I found on taking it.
SN: She's not a doctor, so I'm not taking her advice as religion. Just a good read for those who may be getting as desperate as I am.

@karnamarie, I'm already starting labor with contractions (3 minutes apart), they just need to get stronger. They're slowly progressing (it's been 2 days) and my cervix is going even slower. At this point, diarrhea is what I need

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT USE CASTOR OIL!!! I used it with my second and she had 2 bowel movements in the womb. luckily didn't ingest any of it. It doesn't matter if her doctor okayed it or not it's NEVER worth the risk of hurting your baby! I've learned from experience. I was one day away from 40 weeks when she was born! let the baby come when it's ready! if you're going to attempt to bring labor on yourself I suggest walking, squats and lots and lots of sex!!!

yeah small doses my doctor told me to do it because i was at a 3 for so long and i kept being sent home so she just said do it and four hours later i was back in the hospital.

it caused my baby to have bowel movements in the womb and he swallowed it and gave him a bad infection in his lungs and was taken directly to the nicu after birth it's NOT WORTH THE RISK

My doulas taught me that baby position means way more than dilation, because the head rubbing there releases the correct hormones. .. Try spinningbabies.com to find the right moves to help a baby go back a few cm to reenter correctly, or other yoga moves you can stand doing at that stage.
